Curator’s statement

If you like hiking, art, good Mexican food, a little adventure and great energy this is the place for you. I went with my husband for our wedding anniversary and absolutely loved this place, we are not huge beach people and like to be active, there was so much to do but also plenty of ways to relax.

Day 1: Head to Albuquerque

This image depicts a stone fireplace with a skull mounted onto the wall, two leather chairs, patterned pillows and furniture in the surrounding area.

The direct flights available are sparse to Albuquerque from New York - but it's worth it, definitely recommend renting a car too once you're there to get the full New Mexico experience. The first day will be a bit of a struggle with travel, enjoy some drinks at the airport before the plane, then get your rental car and head to Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe - about one hour from Albuquerque. They are great, will golf cart you upon arrival to your room and even have sandwiches waiting for you at midnight without any request - an amazing touch.

Day 2: Wake Up in Santa Fe

An image of two margaritas with lime on the bar by a stone ledge.

The real day one. Wake up with your gorgeous view of Santa Fe - incredible pool and hot tub on site, spa and hundreds of acres of hiking trails at your doorstep - you're already in paradise, grab breakfast at SkyFire or Two Dogs Cafe and enjoy the property. If you're up for it head to town in the afternoon and grab lunch at The Shed - an amazing first meal in town with great margaritas. Walk around the plaza and the cute shops if you have time, but the real action is at Meow Wolf after a few margaritas. Explore a place like you've never seen before. After that head home for a little nap and plan for a late dinner at SkyFire where you can sit by the fire or out on the patio depending on the weather and a gorgeous view of the sunset regardless of the weather.

Day 3: Head to the Dale Ball Trail System

An image of a cherry blossom tree above a wooden fence near a road leading out to open land with rolling hills.

Head to the Dale Ball trail system for epic views and a moderately difficult hike to some peaks. Follow this up with a late breakfast at Modern General Feed & Seed - get the savory pancakes - unreal! Then head to some more shops in Santa Fe - SOTE is not to be missed along with High Noon General Store and Black Diamond Curio. Santa Fe Hat Company is also a must. Head home for some hot tub reset time and relax in your room by the fireplace. Later head to Canyon Road for some incredible art, whether your shopping or just looking there are some really great things to see. Head to Ahmyo Gallery for a secret wine garden in the back. Geronimo is where you'll want to go for a fancy occasion dinner or just to celebrate life. El Farol is another more casual option right there.

Day 4: Enjoy Your Last Morning in Santa Fe

An image of an inn with white paned windows, an outdoor patio with chairs and tables, factory style architecture in the background and trees in the surrounding area.

On your last morning in Santa Fe play a round a golf at Black Mesa if you're golf inclined, or go with your partner that golfs and enjoy the beautiful views. Get back in time for a shower and then a last meal at Cafe Pasquale's for lunch - a can't miss. A few other mentionable places for a drink: Gruet Winery and margs at Coyote Canteen. When you're ready to hit the road go to Los Poblanos Inn and Farm in Albuquerque - a place straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie.

Day 5: Wake Up at Los Pablanos

This image depicts a stone fountain in the middle of a garden with bistro tables, white pergolas, beuatiful landscaping, floral trees and white lounge chairs in the surrounding view.

Wake up at Los Pablanos, enjoy all the fresh lavender products and have brunch at Campo on site - one of the best meals you'll have throughout the entire trip. Enjoy the saltwater pool and the cute farm animals, buy some souvenirs maybe check out Old Town and then head to the airport home feeling very relaxed.
